Next up for the Countess Grey’s Book Club is: Dubliners by famed Irish author James Joyce.
Just in time for St Patrick’s Day, join the celebration of the Irish by reading one of Ireland’s most famous authors and Dublin native, James Joyce. Dubliners is a collection of Joyce’s short stories and one of his early works, reflecting his own experiences, views and criticisms of middle class Dublin society in the early 20th century.
Joyce himself was born in Rathgar, Dublin on 02 February 1882 and attended University College Dublin. He lived most of his life abroad in France and Switzerland, but his writing none the less was set in the town of his youth and family, Dublin. He died on 13 January 1941, leaving as his legacy his modernist influence on literature.
